INFINITY BROKE

Last winter Infinity Broke decamped to Bellambi at Stranded Recording Studios to record our fourth album. After some wrestling (and generous assistance from Ben Dehoedt and Chris Colquhoun) I have managed to finish mixing the album. It is a beast. We are currently working on sequencing, artwork, logistics and so forth, we can’t wait to share it with you in the new year. We will also to be returning to whatever stages or floors will have us with some shows happening in February. Stay tuned, we’re looking forward to you all hearing it.
Thanks for continuing to tune in

NEWS A’PLENTY
Greetings everyone
I understand my Sydney friends have been getting their toes frozen off during my escape to Europe. Well I have returned.
After holidaying our way through Paris and Portugal, we travelled through Reggio Calabria in the deep south of Italy for five shows. These ranged from odd shows in restaurants to a show in a beautiful park for a members-only-music society, a house show outside on a terrace in Lochri to a show put on by a young co-op in the small commune of Cinquefrondi. The last show was in a remote town in the mountains called Canolo, with a population of only 900 people. It was a harrowing though beautiful drive, Cholena and I both got hit by a killer stomach bug and owing to a missing microphone stand I had to play this gig without a PA. Singing your guts out whilst your stomach commits mutiny is an endurance test, yessiree. The positions one finds oneself in…anyway it was a real adventure and I have Vincenzo Tropepe and Luca Crippa to thank for making it happen.
Video interview from Cinquefrondi
Our next stop after catching a train to Rome and a flight to Nantes was Brittany. I had did eight shows in a row, firstly in Rennes and then shows in Saint Quay-Portrieux, Saint Brieuc and at the Binic Folks Blues Festival. My loyal and sleepless friend Ludovic Lorre organised these, and his father Rene lent me his amp whilst Ludo lent me his steel string. All of these towns are incredibly beautiful, amazing stone masonry everywhere surrounded by the crystal clear Atlantic Ocean.
You can watch a live version of It’s On Me filmed at the festival
During this tour I had a bag of vinyl and CDs weighing heavily on me. I am relieved to report that by the end of the trip it was empty. I have now sold out of all vinyl copies of all of my solo records, if you’re after one it’s now best you scour stores, the internet or Discogs. I still have CD copies of Avalon Cassettes, Bedsit and The Golden Coach on my Bandcamp site. There are a handful of vinyl copies of the last two Infinity Broke records left as well at the IB Bandcamp site. A new Infinity Broke record should be due by next year. It’s been recorded and I’ll begin mixing it shortly.
So, I am doing a homecoming show of sorts.

BLUEBOTTLE KISS – FEAR OF GIRLS VINYL RELEASE, AND SHOWS
Love as Fiction records, who have so far re-released Somnambulist Homesick Blues and the live album Never Leave Town Live In Sydney by Bluebottle Kiss, are re-issuing Fear of Girls on double gatefold vinyl.
This is no mean feat people. I would never have attempted to license an album for re-release when it was issued under the umbrella of Sony music. Not only do they charge incredibly exorbitant prices to reissue anything, they also have not archived any of our material. This means artwork had to be sourced or created from scratch, master tapes thankfully were saved by the fact that the original producer Jack Endino smuggled me a safety DAT tape of the original mixes which I have retained in my posession for well over two decades now. So please…get behind this re-release, it looks and sounds beautiful. Originally released in 1996, it’s been long out of print and is being reissued as a double vinyl album. It was also remastered for vinyl by Mr Endino.
You can pre-order it HERE
Bluebottle Kiss are also playing three shows with dear friends Screamfeeder joining in as well. If you missed out last time, here’s your chance, if you came last time, we understand you may want to attend again.
Fri Nov 8th – ADELAIDE at Jive w/ Flat Stanley
Sat Nov 9th – MELBOURNE at Northcote Social Club w/ Fleeting Persuasion
Sat Nov 16th – SYDNEY at Marrickville Bowling Club w/ Restless Leg
That’s all for now. Thanks for listening and continuing to support my various musical misadventures

INFINITY BROKE
We recently began work on our fourth album at Stranded Studios in Bellambi. It’s early days but songs are all tracked and I will begin mixing them on my return. This is our first album with our new percussionist/drummer Tyrone Stevens. About half of these tracks were conceived together with their genesis being borne from lengthy improvisational squall. Stay tuned!
BLUEBOTTLE KISS AND SCREAMFEEDER
We’re most stoked to be getting the Bluebottle Kiss camp back together for three shows in November. This will again be the line-up of Richard Coneliano, Ben Fletcher, Ben Grounds and myself. Not only this but we are teaming up with our dear friends Screamfeeder who we spent many many hours with on the road, predominantly in the ’90’s. Not only will be celebrating the recent release of Never Leave Town, our double live album (still available on vinyl via Love As Fiction Records and Bandcamp, but also a vinyl reissue of Fear of Girls, but more on that soon.

BBK LIVE ALBUM + GIG DATES
BLUEBOTTLE KISS – LIVE ALBUM AND FILM
Not a few of you were in attendance at Bluebottle Kiss’ reconvening in Oct ’22. The Sydney show at CrowBar was at the tail end of a tour which marked the first time that Bluebottle Kiss had played together in 15 years, and the first time that the Revenge is Slow era line-up of Richard Coneliano, Ben Fletcher, Ben Grounds and Jamie Hutchings had played for 20 years. The night was a sizzler in more ways than one.
The good news is that it was captured in hi-fidelity audio as well as visual formats, the better news is that the excellent Love As Fiction records are releasing it on limited edition double gatefold vinyl with a streaming code included to watch the film.
This would not have come about without the expertise and passion of one Ben DeHoedt who has both mixed and edited the whole shebang, we’ve been involved along the way, and I for one can vouch that the quality is A1!
Work is being done to arrange it to have a limited showing in cinemas in both Melbourne and Sydney, but for the moment you can pre-order the album via Love as Fiction records HERE.
You can also watch an interview with that Ben DeHoedt conducted with Groundsey and Jamie regarding all of this.
The album is entitled – Never Leave Town – Live in Sydney.
JAMIE HUTCHINGS SOLO SHOWS
I have been invited to play at the Binic Folk Blues Festival solo in France in late July, I’ll also be doing shows throughout Italy during this time. Before I go though, I have two solo shows at two very intimate venues in Sydney as a rare trip to the Blue Mountains.
Thur Apr 11th 8pm at The Midnight Special w/ special guest Peter Fenton Tickets HERE
Sun Apr 14th 6pm at Side B Vinyl Bar Blackheath – two sets – tickets HERE
My newish album A New is still available in all formats on my Bandcamp. However despite procuring the last copies from my distributor’s warehouse, there are literally five copies left on vinyl and CD. So if you’d like to buy one of these go to HERE
Take care

A NEW
Hello
Welcome to October. If you’re in Sydney then (like me) you are melting. Here are some bits and pieces of substantial JH music related news.
NEW ALBUM – A NEW
A New comes out officially on Oct 13th, and will be available on LP/CD/digital. At the moment, the first single Roustabout is doing the rounds. Of the single, Backseat Mafia kindly wrote ‘There is a Jimmy Webb grandeur as expressed through Glen Campbell in the instrumentation and delivery, Hutchings’s vocal less acerbic and barbed-wire than in his other bands but nonetheless just as soaked in aged barrels of whiskey and regret…there is certainly a majestic sixties timbre to the track with its big pounding drums and dramatic delivery, all beehive hairdos and kohl eyeliner’. You can read the whole review here.
Roustabout is a good introduction to the album, so if you’re drawn in, I believe you’ll enjoy the whole shebang. It’s a unique record in that it’s mostly me on everything with Tim Kevin engineering myself on mixing, and Mikey Young on mastering. I was able to recruit some talented guests such as Clare Moore on vibraphone, my father Lee Hutchings and Danny Carmichael on horns, Jeanne Poisson and Leanne Clarey on BVs and Tim Kevin on piano. They definitely added some rich fairy dust to proceedings.
Head to my Bandcamp on Oct 13th to get a copy, or you can get it at selected record stores. A word of warning, I don’t have a great deal left, particularly on vinyl due to the crowd funding campaign, so bear that in mind.
Full tour dates for the album will be revealed later in the year and will be taking place over late January – early February. However, I am launching it in Perth at the end of this month. I’ll play a large cross section of material and it’s a very cozy venue so make sure you grab a ticket.
Oct 28th – PERTH – Jamie Hutchings w/ special guest Catherine Traicos at Vinyl Cafe. Tickets HERE
INFINITY BROKE
IB have been getting together sporadically with new recruit Tyrone Stevens on percussion and drums. We’re looking forward to debuting this lineup at the show below. It’s an excellent bill with two of our favourite Sydney bands. We’ll play a couple of newbies as well.

New Album : MAKING WATER + Solo Sydney Show
Hello all
I hope you are safe and well and that 2023 has been reasonable to you thus far.
NEW JAMIE HUTCHINGS ALBUM ‘MAKING WATER’ AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER FRI FEB 3RD
I’ve been working on a couple of recording projects over the past year or so, the first of which will be released soonish. It’s a solo album entitled Making Water.
Here’s a little bit about it – Making Water is my fifth solo album. However it has little in common with my previous releases. You could describe these as ten ‘happenings’ as opposed to ten songs. I’ve written so many songs now, that I’ve long wanted to create an album of compositions that take an alternate path, one that is far away from the construction of traditional song writing. So I began recording improvised moments. For the first lot I mostly used my acoustic guitar; detuning and extracting what I could from it, often brutally, occasionally melodically, and mostly with little interest in pitch or timing, though it still felt intuitively musical in some way. From there I worked on starting some of the compositions from percussive instruments or non-musical instruments. I wanted to lower myself down the well with a tiny match to see what I could see. Then from whatever I created, I would hear other things and add them. A bit like a blind folded painter. When I told another musician that I had no idea what I was doing, and that sometimes I couldn’t work out if it was working or not, they replied ‘then you’re onto something special’. So I kept going.
I’ve been very grateful to have a solid bunch of believers out there who continue to support my work; in whatever form it takes. This album is for the adventurous, given that it strays radically from traditional song form. If you’ve enjoyed, or at least been intrigued by some of the more twisted corners in my back catalogue, then this is for you.
Given the above, I am only doing a limited vinyl pressing of 100 copies, all of them signed and numbered, and available exclusively on my Bandcamp. Whilst the album comes out officially on March 3rd, can I encourage you to pre-order it on February 3rd. When you do so you will receive the track Secret Girl’s World digitally. Secret Girl’s World will also be available as a stand alone digital track on my Bandcamp, under a pay what you like type ‘arrangement’.
You can also pre-save Secret Girl’s World to your streaming service HERE
The vinyl pre-order will be available as a stand alone LP or as a special double LP deal, Making Water plus my previous album Bedsit, with postage only being charged for one LP. An accompanying download code will be sent to you on the release of the album.
You can pre-order Making Water on vinyl in a single package or as the double package mentioned above from Feb 3rd via Bandcamp HERE
JAMIE HUTCHINGS SOLO SHOW
I will be performing solo for the first time since 2020 on Feb 16th. If you’re Sydney, please come along, if there’s something you want to hear, give me plenty of notice! I’ll be playing songs from across all eras.

YOUR DREAM MY JAIL
Hello everybody
Welcome to Spring, at least in Oz. Sydney weather is currently beautiful, we are also currently being totally punished by the Delta strain of Covid. Hopefully you’re all getting by. As you probably know, the ‘rock band’ I play in, Infinity Broke has recently released its third album. The album is called Your Dream My Jail and is our first in six years. Things have been a little bit uneven due to worldwide craziness but here’s the latest news on all of that.
INFINITY BROKE – YOUR DREAM MY JAIL now available on LP/CD/DIGITAL
We finally have stock of the vinyl version of the album. Thanks very much for your patience, particularly those of you who pledged via our Pozible crowd funding campaign some time back. They are on their way to you, if you haven’t received them yet.
We had some substantial delays with the whole current pandemic situation, but it’s here now! Stampers were pressed by Pallas in Germany and the final pressings were done at Holiday Records in Auckland NZ. It was worth the wait, we think it’s a great pressing, there were only 200 made and there’s less than 50 left. We’ve also made a bundle deal available if you want both a LP and CD version, we’ve reduced the price on that one. Lastly we have a handful of t-shirts available. As I type, there are nine left.
You can listen to the album in advance on Bandcamp and streaming services as well. You’re all clever ducks so I reckon you can google your way to those.
If you’re digging the album and bought it on Bandcamp, you can leave a review if you like. They prop up our collective self esteem and help spread the word.
